About Paul
Paul is a recent graduate of FCPS. Having been educated by them for the past eight years, he knows the ins and outs of the problems students face. On the Board of Education, he will share the problems the student body has while expanding their voices in their education.

The Brunswick High School building is has served four generations. It's over 60 years old, and in 60 years, the times have changed. In 1960, asbestos was a wonder material. In 2024, we know it's a silent killer. In 1960, Brunswick had a population of 3,500. Now it's over doubled, and the same school serves it, along with Point of Rocks, Jefferson, and Rosemont. In 1960, the Americans with Disabilities Act didn't exist. Now, 34 years after its passing, BHS is still not fully compliant. In 60 years, Brunswick and its needs have changed. Brunswick High School hasn't. It is the Board's duty to build a new high school, and Paul will make it happen.
Before Policy 443 was enacted, Paul, who was born male, identified as such. After Policy 443 was enacted, Paul still identified as male. Policy 443 is not harmful to anybody, and has not affected him. It did affect many of his peers, however. In 2017, he was surrounded by people struggling with depression and acceptance. In 2019, after 443 really got going, he remained surrounded by these same people, though they went by different names. They dressed different. And they were happier and more outgoing. Policy 443 is not a tool to silence a large group who follow traditional values, but a safeguard for the smaller group whose values are different and just as valid.
Students do not have enough representation in the Board of Education. Every year, every student gets to choose a Student Member of the Board. The problem is that there are several school districts with unique problems and needs. Even with the best intentions, no SMoB can faithfully represent the entire student body. Brunswick is different from Tuscarora is different from Urbana and so on. Students shouldn't have to choose between strangers to try to represent them. Imagine having to elect a senator, but the choices are someone from Kansas, Massachusetts, Texas, or California. That's what the students feel. If Paul is elected, every district will have student representation.
